The Iberian Islander codenamed "Highmore" is one of the victims of the Inquisition in which her parents were falsely accused for collaboration with the Church of the Deep. Her father was taken away by the Inquisitors and never returned, causing her mother to fall into a deep depression that would eventually lead to her death. The falsehoods spread by the people of her village caused her to become distant and hateful towards land-dwellers.

The fiery witch-hunt of the Islanders eventually reached Highmore herself, and her neighbours plotted to burn her on stake by accusing her for the famine that struck the village. Just then, Cicero, a uniquely kind-hearted Bishop of the Deep, slaughtered all of the villagers and saved the girl from their wrath. Through Cicero's enlightenment, she falls in awe of the Seaborn's appearing equality, describing it as a beautiful starry night, and voluntarily chose to join the Many. But upon doing so, Highmore was almost drowned by the hivemind to a point of becoming a monstrous Sea Terror until Mizuki came to her rescue and slowly brought her to a gradual metamorphosis through the cells of the Firstborn inside him.

Under Mizuki's and Tulip's recommendation, Highmore was taken to Rhodes Island for further studies regarding the Seaborn's assimilation traits. Her presence frightened many Rhodes Island operators to the point where the Abyssal Hunters had to persuade them to calm down. Like Mizuki, Highmore slowly learns to adapts to the human way of living while setting aside her past grudges, yet she will never forget the day she made her first contact with the Seaborn.
