Free Operators

There are Operators given freely as a reward in various content, known as free Operators, bonus Operators, or welfare Operators. All free Operators' Potential can be easily maxed out since their Operator Tokens are readily available.

Events[edit]
These free Operators were part of Intermezzi, Side Stories, and Story Collections.
- Up until Code of Brawl, free Operators from Side Stories are awarded by clearing a specific operation within the respective event. Since Twilight of Wolumonde, they (along with Intermezzi ones) are awarded by completing a specific mission on the respective event requiring the player to clear a specific operation within the event.
- Their Operator Tokens are available from the respective event's stores.
- Free Operators from Story Collections are available from the respective event's milestone (Flamebringer and Snowsant) or the store (Absinthe onwards), which also extends to their Operator Tokens.
Once the respective event are added into Record Restoration, the corresponding free Operators can be added to the player's roster by obtaining their respective Personal Letter.

Contingency Contract[edit]
Certain Contingency Contract seasons add free Operators and their respective Operator Tokens to the Permanent Trade Center of the Secret Sanctuary/Crystallization Sanctuary, which means they can be added to the roster in between or other C.C. seasons, provided the player have enough 
Contract Bounty/
Crystal Contract Bounty to do so.

Permanent game modes[edit]
From Phantom & Crimson Solitaire, permanent game modes have free Operators which can be awarded (alongside their Operator Tokens) by progressing through the respective mode theme's milestone. They are always part of the first set of milestone rewards, available upon the theme's release.

- Most free Operators notably have a higher DP cost (excluding Potentials) than comparable Operators of the same rarity and branch as them, costing 2 more DP than them. To make up for this, most free Operators have three DP cost reductions from their Potential upgrades instead of the usual two.
- From Under Tides onward, free Operators released during Celebration events are of the 6★ rarity with the sole exception of Wild Mane.
- Somniloquium Serenum is the first event to feature two free Operators.
