Rhodes Island has dispatched squads off the main battlefield to execute special missions.
They will encounter a variety of challenges on the path to their final goal to "reach Londinium."
Command a squad directly, determine how they'll handle encounters and complete your mission.

Episode 14 features the Hidden Front that is available once 14-5 is cleared for the first time.

In Hidden Front, the player will need to command a Rhodes Island specialist squad across a Combat Mission and improve their ability to face different situations and reach endings from different timelines.

Squads

There are three squads, with each having their own ability values covering three different fields: logistics, intel, and medical that can be seen when the squad is selected.

The Logistics Squad under your command is proficient in logistics and transportation. Their goal is to transport strategic supplies to Londinium.

Combat Mission

Stages

A Combat Mission is made up of four stages, with the progress shown as a four gray meters on the upper-right corner of the screen, with a long bar showing the progress of the current stage. However, the last three stages can only be entered after a specific Episode 14 operation is cleared for the first time.

Each stage is made up of several actions that must be completed to proceed through the stage.

Phase Acts. Prerequisite
#1: Battlefield of Originium and Gunfire
Objective: Londinium.
Prolonged sieges have transformed the city into a nightmare. The squad is about to enter the warzone and has already detected significantly elevated levels of airborne active Originium. Brace yourselves; this journey will be treacherous.

#2: Sudden Catastrophe
We received a warning from Closure about an incoming Catastrophe in our area. Please advise.

#3: Stray Troops
Our scouts report approximately a hundred soldiers stationed ahead. Their uniforms and gear indicate they are mostly Sarkaz mercenaries and Victorian conscripts. They share the same camp, but many are wounded and on high alert. Attempting contact may be risky. Please advise.

#4: Londinium Imminent
We've crossed the frontline, and the final challenge lies right ahead. The city's surroundings are extremely dangerous, so please help us find a way to reach our objective.

Events

In each action, the squad will experience three different events with up to three decisions on each, each having a success rate that varies on the squad's abilities (if all three of the squad's abilities meet or exceed the requirement, the decision will have a 100% success rate) and can be checked by tapping on the decision. Regardless of the outcome, the squad proceeds to the next action after the decision is made; if the event is a success, the squad will have their abilities increased, but if the encounter is a failure, their abilities won't increase.

Some events form a chain spanning across multiple actions and will significantly improve one of the squad's abilities if all of them are taken. Some events' options also require the player to made certain decisions in a certain events before they can be chosen.

After proceeding though all actions in a stage, the squad will experience an emergency event whose decisions are fixed, but the player can only choose the decision whose ability requirement is met or exceeded by the squad; if the player is unable to do so, the squad will be forced to evacuate, compromising the Combat Mission! The available emergency events in each stage will influence which emergency events can be taken on the next stage.

Leaving and restarting

The player can suspend the current Combat Mission by selecting the button that says "Leave for now" on the upper-left corner of the screen, at which the player is given the prompt to either leave, restart, or continue the Combat Mission.

  • Leaving the Combat Mission pauses it, where the progress is saved until the player returns at any time.
  • Restarting the Combat Mission ends it (will not be considered a failure) and allows the player to start over. The player can also restart the Combat Mission after completing or failing one.

On the top-right corner of the screen, an option that says "Inherit previous squad's data" is available; if this option is checked (which is so by default), the squad will carry over the ability of their specialization from previous Combat Missions, which is capped at +50.

Interestingly, the route taken in each previous Combat Missions will be displayed on the Combat Mission map as orange lines.
