Calais-Blason is a former Gaulish territory which has since become part of Victoria.

Background[edit]

Calais-Blason is a region once located in Gaul. After the War of the Four Nations, it was absorbed into Victoria. However, the casualties and environmental devastation caused by the war made the region largely uninhabitable and most of its residents were either killed in the war or fled the area. The region itself is devoid of human habitation and largely forgotten by Terrans, but eventually became the main base of operations for Tragodia and the Crimson Troupe, unbeknownst to even the authorities. At some point a flood Catastrophe swept through the area, and the Crimson Troupe began to take local children to train them as artists in exchange of supplies for the victims. [1] Amongst the children from Calais-Blason who were taken by the Troupe was Phantom.[2][3]

The Castle[edit]

A castle hidden within the woods constructed under the auspices of a Gaulish noble who perished in the war a few years after its completion, leaving it derelict. But a mysterious group has been calling it home recently...

The Castle was taken over by the Crimson Troupe as a stage for their gruesome performances. The interior of the Castle is always changing and very complex. Furthermore, time does not flow in a linear fashion within the Castle, resulting in time loops.[4] Thus, every trip through the castle is different, aligning the story with the gameplay of Integrated Strategies.

Calais[edit]

Located in Calais-Blason, Calais was a frontier city that Tragodia once visited, which was besieged by the allied forces during the War of the Four Nations, but managed to resist for several months thanks to its city defense artillery and the leadership of a Gaulish general known as the "Empire's Flag" even after the Gaulish Royal Family long abandoned the city. However, Calais soon fell prey of an uprising led by the general's most loyal lieautenant. The unyielding Empire's Flag and his most trusted lieautenant continued to stand atop Calais' walls, but the lieautenant concluded that protecting the city would only increase the number of casualitites. One night he persuaded the Empire's Flag to leave his place and waited until the soldiers went to sleep. Ten minutes later, he opened Calais' gates and let the allied forces to enter. He then stabed his heart with a sword before the enemy could enter Calais.[5]

Most of Calais' story has been forgotten in time, but Phantom once met a former Vieaux Vanguard who has seen the city burining to the ground that day. He also found a badge with the Crimson Troupe's logo on the treacherous lieatenant's body, suggesting that he was actually being manipulated by Tragodia.[5]
